Question: Can you use Argan Oil after having a keratin treatment?

Answer:  This is a resounding YES!  Pure Argan Oil is not only safe for keratin treated hair but beneficial.  In the early days of keratin treatments, stylist’s would add a few drops of Pure Argan Oil to the treatment so that it would not dry out the hair.  That is why we recommend doing a weekly Pure Argan Oil deep conditioning treatment after getting the keratin treatment or any chemical treatment.  You will definitely see a noticeable difference in you hair health.  It is very important for you to use a Pure Argan Oil treatment like Maijan and not use a Argan serum like Moroccan Oil.  Moroccan Oil and other serums have chemicals that can react to the Keratin Treatment and actually dry your hair out.

With an ever-growing array of hair appliances on the market, something as seemingly simple as shopping for a new hair dryer can turn into an arduous task. From high-end to low-end, many tools across a category often make similar claims with science-based vocabulary. How do you know what’s what? Take out your notebook and a #2 pencil because it’s time for Cricket Company’s Hair Technology 101:

CERAMIC
What is it? Ceramic is a composite material usually made of clay. It can be used in the body of a dryer, the heating element, or as a coating on internal parts.
How does it help my hair? The benefit of ceramic is that it heats up quickly and evenly across its surface.

IONIC
What is it? Ions refer to any particle with a negative or positive charge. Negative ions interact with wet hair by breaking up the water molecules, allowing the smaller droplets to penetrate the outer layer of the hair shaft.
What’s in it for me? Ionic technology reduces the hair’s surface tension, leaving locks shiny and frizz-free.

TOURMALINE
What is it? Tourmaline is a semi-precious mineral which generates only negative ions when heated. While some of the best ionic dryers are made with tourmaline, they are not all equally effective. Internal parts of dryers may be molded of tourmaline, or some parts may just be coated with a mineral compound. Because tourmaline is a rare gemstone, the price of these hair dryers can get quite steep, depending on the quantity and the way it is incorporated into the dryer.
Benefits por moi? Lea Michele stepped out with an incredible beach wave inspired hairstyle at her appearance on Fox Upfronts 2012 representing GLEE.  Lea’s hair is always inspirational.  Her hair has and incredible shine and silkiness to it!  How can I recreate this look at home.  Lea’s celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa gives MyStyleBell the inside scoop.  She used The Beachwaver to create a soft, wavy hairstyle.

To achieve Lea’s waves using the Beachwaver:

1. Separate the hair down the middle and bring the two sections forward, with the focus being on a left side and a right side. Create three horizontal rows on each side and start with the bottom layer first to work your way up.
2. If you are curling the RIGHT side of the hair, select the R button (which rotates the rod away from the face); if you are curling the LEFT side, select the L button.
3. Take about one inch sections of hair (measured from the root), hold the iron vertical, and place the ends in clamp with the clamp facing inward (leaving about an inch of the ends out).
4. Once the end of the hair section is in clamp, press GO to curl the length of the section.
5. Continue with each layer until one entire side is finished before starting on the other, remembering to correspond the R or L button with the side you are curling.
6. An important thing to remember is to wait until the very end when both sides have cooled before running fingers through your hair. With this kind of pattern, it needs to stay in that wave while it cools.

What is Dip Dye?  It is one of the most asked about growing trends in hair color!  Everyone is dip dyeing their hair including celebs like Drey Barrymore, Nicki Minaj, Lauren Conrad and so many more!

So what is Dip Dye?  Think Ombre hair but taken to the extreme.  Dip dye hair color looks like you have taken the ends of your hair and put it in a can of paint!  Done correctly this hair color technique looks fabulous! Ombre hair on the other hand has a more subtle edge between colored and non-colored hair. Ombre hair can many times be achieved just by growing out your highlights.  Great if you just can’t get to the salon.

Dip dye hair color has more of a dramatic effect where the line of dye in the hair is very noticeable.  You can use bright colors like red, blue, green, pastels, etc!

Recently WEN by Chaz Dean launched a brand new product called the Intensive Oil Treatment.  They have a line of 6 different oils that leave your hair moisturized and hydrated.  This treatment oil utilizes an extremely beneficial blend of highly sought-after exotic oils to help maintain and restore the integrity of your hair, scalp, and body while also providing the ultimate treatment for achieving bouncy, shiny, beautiful and manageable hair.  I decided that I have to review this product to see if it really works!

I decided to test out the WEN by Chaz Dean Lavender Mint Intensive Oil Treatment.  I love both lavender and mint and thought this would be fantastic on my hair!  They say that all of the scents are the same and that I would get the same results with any of them.   They have a number of different uses but I decided to use the intensive hair oil to help add moisture in my hair.

I followed the directions and used it as a overnight deep conditioning therapy.  I put about 4 to 5 dropper fulls on various sections of my scalp and then massaged in.  I then combed through my hair and put it up in a pony tail.  I immediately noticed that it was a little oilier than usual.  The Maijan Moroccan Argan Oil that I use is very light and is immediately absorbed in my scalp but this does have a little greasiness.  I decide that I should put a towel on my pillow before I sleep.  After a good night’s sleep I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner in the morning.  It takes about 3 shampoos to get the oiliness out.  After I blow dry I notice that my hair is definitely softer and frizz free.  I enjoyed the results, however, unfortunately my only issue was there was still a slight oily residue that stayed in my hair.  I felt the oil overall was a little heavy for my hair.  I thought the WEN by Chaz Dean Intensive Oil Treatment was great, however, I feel that the Maijan Moroccan Argan Oil at half the price is much better.

Maijan has different treatments for different hair types and the Argan Oil is cold pressed, pure, organic, and is absorbed immediately into my hair, scalp, and skin.  I also like that I can use the Maijan oil on my face, body, feet, cuticles, and nails.  It has incredible versatility with amazing results.

Are you wondering what hair color you should be getting this year?  Just like in fashion there are definite trends in hair color!  Fall/Winter 2012 has been inspired by the many award shows and premieres from all of the celebrities that we love.  Tracking the trends is our one and only Celebrity Colorist and Redken Creative Consultant, Tracey Cunningham.  She colors everyone I mean everyone on that red carpet!

Tracey lays out 3 Trends that are sure to be replicated over, over and over again!

Trend #1: Brunettes

Although the Redken Illumination look with darker roots and lighter ends (aka. Ombre Hair) is still extremely popular, I’ve seen an evolution on this style.  Similar to the Fashion Week ’12 runways of Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier, many women are opting for fantastic, bright colors like pink or purple on the ends or roots as well!  This  is truly a look for the trendsetters and fashionistas and takes a very confident, eclectic woman to pull off this trends – someone like Kelly Osborne or Lady Gaga; however the most requested look I receive continues to be Lily Aldridge.  To get the look, ask your Redken colorist for Chromatics Naturals, Cool Browns & Beiges, Golds, Warm Browns & Beiges or Natural Warms shades.

Trend #2: Redheads
