My Relaxed Hair is Thinning

Question:
I am African American and my hair is breaking. I do not color my hair, but it is relaxed and it’s breaking at the ends and I’m also noticing some thinning. I also have dandruff and I need something that works fast! What do you suggest?

Answer:
Did you know you lose about a 100 hairs a day naturally? Anything more than that could mean early stage thinning hair, damage/breakage, an unhealthy scalp – and most likely, all three.

First I would address the scalp and thinning issues with a hair solution hair care like Nioxin or Murad. Based on your hair type and thinning I think Nioxin would be best for you. It’s a three step system (cleanser, conditioner, treatment) to be used daily, and in the aforementioned order.

Nioxin System 3 KitNioxin hair care comes in a number of different programs depending on your hair concerns and for you I would suggest using System 3. This formulation was specially developed for chemically enhanced hair that is in the early stages of thinning.

Think about it, your scalp is essentially skin, so you want to keep that in optimal health so new, healthy hair can grow. If your scalp is unhealthy, it will definitely lead to hair thinning and other hair concerns such as dandruff, breakage, etc. Additionally, your hair is also relaxed, you need hair care that will not only heal, but protect your scalp environment.

All of the Nioxin thinning hair care products work on hair that is developing in the follicle in the Growth Cycle, by feeding nutrients and making needed repairs, but Nioxin System 3 contains an exclusive Glyco-fused Complex that will protect your scalp from the over-drying and irritation caused by those chemical treatments you love to get. Nioxin also helps reduce the breakage and damage you are experiencing as well by strengthening the new hair growth by nourishing your scalp.

We carry all three pieces (shampoo, conditioner and treatment) separately, but we also have a starter kit that makes it easy to start caring for your thinning hair in 3 simple steps. Let us know how it goes!
