Five Drugstore Faves for Fabulous Hair

Dove Sheer Moisture Leave-in Replenishing SprayI love the fancy-schmancy products as much as the next girl, but sometimes what I want is right around the corner at my local CVS, Target, Walmart or Walgreens.

Tried and true, these are five of my favorite drugstore finds:

1- Yes to Carrots Hair & Scalp Mud Mask – Smells delish, works even better. Made with tons of good for you ingredients like carrot juice, carrot oil, sweet potato and dead sea mud, you can detox, detangle and de-stress those tresses. One of my favorite hair treats.

2- Dove Advanced Care Leave-in Replenishing Mist – A few pumps fights frizz and dryness, two things that really need fighting if you have thick curly hair like I do. I especially like this as a curl pick me up after a long day that is leading up to an even longer night. A spritz or two and my droopy ‘do is perky and perfect. (Pictured above.)

3- Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk – Super smoothing in an instant without the weight. I love to use this before I quosh my curls with my flat iron. Believe it or not, I also like to scrunch a little through my wet hair if I’m wearing it curly. The smoothing styler fights frizz and helps define curls if you use it sparingly. A double-duty favorite.

4- Pantene ProV Thick and Full Spray – Talk about thick and full, this styling spray definitely delivers. It’s like spraying on instant texture. Great for a little lift at the roots and some extra body on the ends, it’s probably amazing on thin hair. It does smell a tad bit potent, but with it’s plumping power, you’ll get past it.

5- Aussie Instant Freeze Hair Spray – You can lock in any style with this super-fine misting hairspray, and I do mean lock. Be sure your style is ready, this is one stiff styler. One spray and your hair stays put. It’s awesome for updo’s and for getting those stray hairs that think they can do their own thing. One blast with Instant Freeze will show them who’s boss.

The best part all of these are under $10 except Yes to Carrots which will probably run you $13 or so. Easy on the wallet, strong on the style, and just around the corner!

The Yes to Carrots hair mask is AMAZING!!! I think I read about this originally in a magazine… for my curly hair, I couldn’t believe how silky my hair felt when I rinsed it out, but my curls stayed in place. Even better, when I started styling my hair, the ends stayed in place, and it stayed shiny for a couple of days after. This is going to be a mainstay in my shower routine! I would definitely recommend it.

has anybody tried Trader Joe’s “TeaTree Tingle”? I just bought some and I think it is the best conditioner I’ve ever tried! It has tea tree oil, of course, but a slew of other essential oils as well. It feels creamy on your wet hair, not oil and doesn’t leave a residue. Also, I ve used a vinegar rinse 1x/wk since I was 13 (long long time ago!) which strips off buildup from hairspray and mousse & Gunk…. anc corrects hairs pH (?) try it, just shampoo afterward or you’ll smell like a pickle!
