How to Prolong the Life of Your Hair Appliances!

So were we! So, we did some research and chances are, you can prevent this loss by following a few quick steps to preserve the life of your styling tools.

1.) Use a Styling Iron Cleaner: The best part about this is that it’s a super simple, and affordable, way to prolong the life of your appliances and keep them looking brand new. Styling iron cleaners, like this one by Hot Tools, are designed to clear through even the toughest, burnt on, super-gunky hairspray! By removing this layer of burnt on product, our appliances won’t have to work as hard to do what we want them to! By leaving this layer on the iron, you are creating a barrier between the iron and your hair which causes you to have to work twice as long at getting that perfect curl!

2.) Use a Soft Cloth to Clean Your Irons! Although looking at our irons, our first thought would probably be to grab a Brillo pad and get to scrubbing — we should really be doing the exact opposite.  This will not only prolong the life of your iron, but it will help prolong the life of your hair! Using a Brillo pad or any product like it will only scratch up the surface of our irons and unfortunately, most of our irons titanium or ceramic coating is only a thin layer on the outermost surface; which is exactly what you are scrubbing off by using a harsh cleaning pad. Prevent exposing the underlying metal by using a soft cloth when cleaning with your styling iron cleaner. This is a HUGE step in keeping our irons looking brand new!

3.) NEVER Wrap Your Cord Around Your Irons!!  We are all guilty of this space-saving storing habit, but this is the worst thing you can do for the connections in the cord of your heated appliances. Wrap the cord separately to prevent it from being wrapped around sharp corners and surfaces of our irons. One little tap or bang can severely damage your iron connections if you store it the wrong way, which brings me to my final point:

4.) Invest in a Heat Proof Storage Mat: This will make keeping your iron cleaned and stored properly a breeze. We love this super affordable StyleBell mat and it even has 2 pockets! One for your iron, and one for your separately wrapped cord! :)
