Curls, perms, waves, beachy waves what is the next trend in waves?  Without doubt Defined Waves are the trend for Fall/Winter 2012 and Spring 2013.  Defined Waves are almost like beachy waves but with a touch of definition.  You can get Defined Waves  with a deep waver, curling iron, or just simply putting braids in your hair.

Sam Villa, top Redken stylist, gives MyStyleBell his technique for creating Overnight Waves that are ‘undone with quality’ using only braids and a few products!

Overnight Defined Waves How-To
Step 1:  Emulsify product in hand and use fingers to run through hair to flatten and control the cuticle.  Try Redken satinwear 02/light hold, Redken iron silk 07/medium hold or Redken hot sets 22/high hold.

Step 2:   Take random horizontal sections from ear to ear, starting at the nape, don’t need to do a lot.  Braid sections from scalp to the very ends – the larger the braid, the larger the wave.  Keep it small for more explosive texture.

Step 3:   In the morning, remove elastic and finger through sections.  If more definition is needed, apply Redken outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk.
